Inspirational Women With Gumption!

Nellie McClung - Gumption Galore!
Wow - what a fabulous night we had on February 12!  I can't speak for any of my guests, but I was completely inspired by their humour, their insights and their willingness to do whatever quirky activity I threw at them.  We made new friends and learned a lot about each other, but more importantly, we learned how similar our experiences as women are.  We shared our best advice for other women - our advice was often strikingly similar and yet subtly different.  During some very memorable dinner conversations we learned that my sister speaks in a sultry voice, one friend has had to call in a cockroach exterminator at a hotel, another is an expert on where to acquire chocolate covered monkeys, and yet another is married to a woolly mammoth (did I get that one right??).  Most surprising of all is that one of us harbours a secret desire to marry Prince William - who knew??!!  If you want to know the details on some of these interesting discussions, you'll have to ask me in person - well, the truth is that a good friend never tells.

To get in on the fun, join us at some of my March movie madness nights.  These are not women- only get togethers (so come and join us, Mark, if you dare!) - bring your partner, your kids or the gal next door - just let me know if you are coming so I have enough munchies on hand.  On every Tuesday in March (except the yet unknown one when I have a meeting at church), I will be heading out to cheap Tuesday movie night - determined to pick something out of the possibly grim choices.  I'm going to the early show and will post the movie and theatre on my blog on Sundays all through March.  On each Saturday in March (except the 12th when I will be in Pittsburgh - Go Penguins!!), I will be screening some of my favourite moveis - at least one every week.  I'll post my weekly selection on Wednesdays and I have lots of room for fellow cinephiles.

To the 13 exceptional women who joined me this past Saturday - I salute your style, your humour, your perseverence, your humility, your confidence, your grace and your gumption!  My mother said it best  - each and every one of you was vitally important to the whole evening.  Thanks for going with the flow :-)
